Drombaya maintains a social business approach. This means that it does not give grants to partner organisations but loans with interest. They again distribute loans in their communities where they have established women groups. Most of these women live in “extreme” poverty which is Drombaya’s target group. The interest income enables Drombaya to sustain itself.

Drombaya started in Cameroon as  a pilot project in 2008 and developed into a social business venture since then. As of January 2011, over 750 loans could be facilitated in the South West region in Cameroon and an overall repayment rate over 90% could be maintained.
